Student Responsibilities
Planner: Students are expected to fill out their agenda each day. We write something for each subject which I will post on the home page of the website daily. If the student finishes the assignment, they should check it off. If they do not finish, they should circle it and take it home to complete. The planner needs to be signed by parents/guardians at the bottom of the page each night and returned the next day along with any completed homework.
Homework: I rarely assign work without giving students time to work on it in class. If students use their class time and Guided Study time well, they should not have much to finish at home. I will never assign homework for students that we have not thoroughly gone over, or if I don’t believe they can do it. Students are to bring the homework back the next day, or the date assigned for other assignments. If students do not have their homework completed on time, they will be issued a Lunch Detention as the time to complete that work. Please let me know if there are circumstances that prevent homework completion by email or a note on the planner and I will give the student more time to complete the work. Assignments will not be accepted more than two days late unless an absence is involved.
Classroom Procedures
Reward Tickets: Each week, students will be given a new Reward Ticket. We will mark infractions to our classroom rules on the card. Students can also earn smiley faces for positive behaviors. Each week we will have some type of reward including an extra recess, time to shop at our classroom store, game time, or other class rewards. If students have less than five marks on their card for the week, they are able to participate. Reward Tickets will go home each Thursday for students to get a parent signature. They are to be returned on Friday.
Friday Folders: Every Friday, students will bring home their corrected papers and other mail in a marked folder. Please take time over the weekend to look through the papers. I encourage you to keep papers and compare them to grades posted online.
Corrections: Students are encouraged to correct any assignment with a score below a 75. The corrected assignment can be turned back in the following week for a corrected score. This helps students master needed skills, and can help bring up grades. Students are not able to correct quizzes or tests.
